Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Silveira, and I am currently working towards completing my Master's degree in Biological Sciences at Chico State University. I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2020-2024, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology. There are more details about my thesis project under the "project" tab. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and reading Agatha Christie novels. 

After obtaining my Master's and completing my thesis work, I hope to use the skills I gained to develop new treatments to combat cancer. I became interested in drug development and design while pursuing my bachelor's in pharmacology, which is why I chose a research lab at Chico State that focuses on drug treatment and studying molecular mechanisms. Currently I work as a teaching associate at Chico State, and I discovered that I also enjoy teaching undergraduate students about biology. In the future, I would also like to work at a community college and help teach the next generation of scientists.
